About Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie

Hon. Alfred Nii Kotey Ashie is the Member of Parliament for the Odododiodioo Constituency, representing the National Democratic Congress (NDC). A proud native of Asere, Accra, he brings lived experience, deep community ties, and a strong understanding of urban realities into Ghana’s Parliament.

Leadership is fundamentally about service.

His work is shaped by firsthand knowledge of inner-city communities, youth development challenges, and the need for responsive, accountable governance. Serving in Parliament for the first time, Alfred is driven by a commitment to inclusive development, social justice, and practical leadership that delivers real outcomes for people.

A Christian by faith and a servant-leader by conviction, he approaches public service with humility, discipline, and a strong sense of responsibility to those he represents.

Education and Professional Background

Alfred’s academic and professional journey reflects a solid foundation in governance, leadership, and public administration.He holds a Master of Science in Governance and Leadership and a Bachelor of Science in Public Administration from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), as well as a Diploma in Youth in Development Work from the University of Ghana.

Before entering Parliament, he served as Administrator for Operations at the Onamroko Adain Family Council, where he gained practical experience in organizational management, dispute resolution, and community coordination.

He also worked as Special Assistant to Hon. Joseph Nii Laryea Afotey Agbo, former Minister of State and Greater Accra Regional Minister. In this role, he supported public sector coordination, policy processes, and stakeholder engagement at both regional and national levels—experience that continues to inform his work in Parliament.

His approach to public service is anchored in listening closely to constituents, translating community needs into action, and promoting transparency in governance. He advocates for equitable development that leaves no one behind and places strong emphasis on empowering young people as active contributors to national progress.

He believes effective leadership must remain grounded—visible in communities, responsive to real concerns, and focused on long-term solutions rather than short-term gains.

As a son of Asere and a lifelong resident of Accra, Alfred maintains a strong and personal connection to the people of Odododiodioo.

His constituency work emphasizes regular community engagement, responsive constituency offices, and collaboration with traditional leaders, faith-based organizations, and civil society. He believes representation goes beyond Parliament—it requires presence, dialogue, and consistent follow-through at the community level.
